This project was a 2 weeks class focusing on Arduino programming with Ubi de Feo as a lecturer. The only given constraint was to stick to a box shape as the focus was more on the interaction and code than the physical design of the object.
I worked on the code part and took care of the electronics. I also edited the video of the product.
Bedtime Lullabies Teller is an product designed for kids, that allows to listen to different stories for sleep time with ambiant lights. It can be used by kids from 2 years old. The project is inspired by a similar product called ‘Tonie box’.
A double tap on the box turns the box on, which is indicated by a small sound and slow pulsing lights. Once the user attaches a bagde to the box, the story will start playing and the lights color will change. As we reach the end of the story, the light fade out slowly to let the user go to sleep.
Each bagde represents one story and one set of color lights. The front side of the box is for the badge and the rest of the box sides are made of holes in the shape of stars and moons to let the light pass through the box.
The user experience has been kept very simple and intuitive. The object is designed to share a pleasant experience and memories for children as the nightlight gives a sense of security. Moreover, as this object has no screen, it helps develop children's imagination and helps them fall asleep at bedtime.
